Following encouragement from Indivisible Iowa they traveled without an appointment, but choosing a Monday allowed them a 90-minute opportunity to discuss the defunding of USAID, women’s health, immunizations, and migration issues. These women also urged the staffers to talk with their bosses about the illegality of Elon Musk moving funds approved by Congress.

The group also requested in person communication in the form of a town hall meeting and notification of those locations .They recommended having a public discussion during the Senators’ upcoming spring break. The staff indicated they only extended invitations in a 75-mile radius.

While the staffers took written notes of their issues, several of the women presented letters to provide assurance of communication with their Iowa Senatorial representatives.

These women have been calling the Washington D.C. offices as well as the offices in Iowa to express their concerns at what President Trump and the Republican House and Senate are allowing to happen to our Democracy.

Consider gathering women and others from your community to make these types of visits.
